Legend has it that Noah, to accommodate his long journey in his ark, had covered the ground with the wool he had sheared from his lambs. But it wasn’t until the waters receded and the animals left the ark that he realised that they had trampled down and formed a compact woollen carpet. Thus the first felt was born.

Felting is an ancient and magical technique in which wool or fleece fibres become cloth through moisture, soap and friction, which open the micro scales of the fleece causing them to entangle, shrink and bond strongly with each other. Using this technique, fabrics and three-dimensional shapes of great strength and beauty can be created.
