Tepui and Threads of Thoughts
From wool, the Basque Kris Meraki creates both art to wear and scupture to admire.
Tepui, “House of the Gods”, the sandstone mesas of the Gran Sabana in the Southeast of Venezela are called in the language of the Pémon, the indigenous people living there. Kris Meraki has borrowed the name for her collection of softly falling, poncho-like felt collars, because “wearing a Tepui you feel very special – as if you were in a “mountain”dwelling of the Gods”!
These multifunctional collars are part of the latest work of the versatile Basque artist….
